MANCHESTER CITY vs WEST HAM UNITED (1230 ko)
Heston Blumenthal and Gordon Ramsay get the weekend off to what’s likely to be an unhappy start. City are a totally different proposition from the side from which we took a point some months ago. Ogbonna is still out, but the defence has nevertheless looked generally effective in recent games. Declan Rice will be pivotal today against an attack that might include Aguero. City have 15 clean sheets from their 25 games. Beef Wellington will have to wait a couple of weeks as snail porridge gets stuffed down our throats today. But we’ll still be fourth at the end of the day. Home win.
WEST BROMWICH ALBION vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION (1500)
This is more a battle of the Greasy Joe’s Café cook and the local master fryer. The fixtures computer has chosen some distinctly unappealing games for the traditional Saturday afternoon kick-off and there’s little in this to whet the appetite. Draw.
LEEDS UNITED vs ASTON VILLA (1730)
Leeds are all but safe and lie just a point behind their equally inconsistent opponents. The influential Jack Grealish is still out for Villa, which Leeds may see as a major boon. Draw.
NEWCASTLE UNITED vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS (2000)
Newcastle have been pulled – have put themselves – into the relegation mix, there’s no doubt about that. Wolves are comfortably mid-table with no real worries on that count. It’s hard to see a clear winner here. Draw.
**SUNDAY**
CRYSTAL PALACE vs FULHAM (1200)
Fulham’s drive towards safety has been nothing short of spectacular. Today’s game offers them the opportunity to go level on points with Newcastle, depending on yesterday’s results. Guts deserve rewards and it would be great to see them stay up. Palace are tediously safe-ish. Away win.
LEICESTER CITY vs ARSENAL (1200)
Arsenal will be buoyed by their midweek win over Benfica, but are still not at Leicester’s level. Vardy remains as crucial as ever for the hosts, who should scrape this. Home win.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs BURNLEY (1400)
Ninth plays fifteenth. Expect a dull game. Narrow home win.
CHELSEA vs MANCHESTER UNITED (1630)
Despite being separated by six points and three positions, there’s little to choose between these two. This is Thomas Tuchel’s biggest test to date as Chelsea boss. Draw.
SHEFFIELD UNITED vs LIVERPOOL (1915)
For the Blades, this is one of those free hit games from which little or nothing is expected for the hosts. As luck would have it, they face a Liverpool side wracked by issues of confidence and if they go for it from the start a early goal would lead to a nervy game for the visitors. But still. Away win.
EVERTON vs SOUTHAMPTON (1915)
The Saints have plummeted down the league since their brief ascendency to its summit some months ago. Everton are level on points with their red neighbours and will want to pounce on any slip-up at Bramall Lane. It’s hard to see anything but a home win.

What's the craic if Man City win the champions league and Man Utd win the Europa?
Depends where they finish in the league.
Finish in top 4, then 6th and 7th place potentially get a European place (depends who wins League and FA cups)
Finish outside top 4, then league placings lose a couple of European spots.
Best case scenario, 7th is Europa League/Conference next season.
Worst case, 4th place is no European football (unlikely).

When all you have is a hammer every problem is a nail.
That measuring line thing they do is the only thing about VAR that isn't subjective. So they just double down on it because its the only tool they have really. To the point where it's not even used for "obvious errors" but now used for disallowing goals that are miliimeteres out. And even that is based on the TV frame rate. If you doubled the frame rate from 30 to 60 these offsides may not even be offsides!
Technically, there's no such thing as being level with another player. They should just say that if there is daylight between the players it's offside. Much easier to tell and would bring more goals to. football instead of this exact science they are trying to promote.

Yes we need City to win the carabao.......and then a top 4 side to win the FA Cup. Then 6th is Europa and 7th is Europa conference

The Europa League is far too bloated and means you play another half season of games to win it.
Having it reduced to a proper shorter elite competition would be good news. Long overdue

The UEFA Europa Conference League (abbreviated as UECL), colloquially referred to as UEFA Conference League, is a planned annual football club competition held, starting in 2021, by UEFA for eligible European football clubs.[1] Clubs will qualify for the competition based on their performance in their national leagues and cup competitions. It will be the third tier of European club football, after the Champions League and the Europa League.
The competition is scheduled to run from the 2021–22 season, and will serve as the bottom level of the existing UEFA Europa League competition, which is due to be reduced from 48 to 32 teams in the group stage. The competition will primarily be contested by teams from lower-ranked UEFA member associations.[1] No teams will qualify directly to the group stage, with 10 teams eliminated in the Europa League play-offs and the rest coming from the Europa Conference League qualifiers.

Id add Arsenal at H to that too. 2 wins minimum and going unbeaten will be key. I think top 4 is beyond us but top 6 would be nice. 7th is fucking Europa conference which looks shite.......better then nothing but lets push for top 6

I mean the results did really go our way 5 of the 6 teams around us were placing lower league teams and 3 lost points!
For us it was a great mid week fixtures. I am now of the opinion that Leicester are not going to make it... I think they are going to struggle

Hard not to see us tailing off but to be fair I keep expecting it to start and hasn't yet.
Nice to still have interest in the season with 12 games left that isn't about survival

History shows that the *cough* smaller clubs/weaker squads tail off at the biz end of the season, and I think it's likely that will happen to us, as it did with Leicester last season. Would love to be wrong though of course. I do think 6th is doable though, which should get you a qualifier against Romanian plumbers in the EL.
